It’s an independent, student‑run station broadcasting a wide variety of programs.

The station operates from the UMBC Campus Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

WMBC features local artists, top‑40, sports, talk, and campus news, all produced by students.

The station originally began in 1979 as the WUMD Radio Club and evolved into WMBC with updated equipment in 1998.

After a period of silence due to staffing issues, WMBC recently returned to the air with renewed student involvement and events
